Uttlesford
Saffron Walden town is a great place to watch the opening of Stage One, with the roll-out and rider presentations taking place on King Street before the peloton returns to the town 30K later. At this point, the first sprint points of the race will be up for grabs on Hill Street.
Head over to the Jubilee Garden from 9:30am for refreshments, live music, competitions and your chance to try out a smoothie bike!
Braintree
If you are local to the picturesque village of Finchingfield, head down for a drink or picnic on the green, it’s a good spot to watch the riders pass on the route. Huge crowds headed to the beautiful village to welcome the Tour de France in 2014 and this is another chance to watch world-class cycling in a stunning location.
Colchester
The first stage of the RideLondon Classique will finish on East Hill in Colchester, by Colchester Castle and there will be a free spectator zone from 11am in Hollytree’s Meadow in Castle Park, which will offer a great view of the race. A big screen will be set up to broadcast live coverage of the finish, along with catering and a bouncy castle for children to enjoy.
Local community and sport groups will also be on hand to provide entertainment and information on their activities, including The Anti Loo Roll Brigade, Essex University, the African Family Society, Essex County Council mobile library, Essex Pedal Power, Community360, Healthwatch Essex and Changing Lives.
If you’re local to Colchester, don’t forget you could also watch the best women riders in the world fly through Dedham, Manningtree and through the final intermediate sprint of the day in Mistley, which sits on the banks of the River Stour.
