RideLondon is a legacy event from the London 2012 Olympic Games. Essex will welcome 25,000 cyclists on Sunday 26 May as RideLondon, the world’s greatest festival of cycling, returns to the county for its third year in a partnership between RideLondon and Essex County Council.

The partnership brings the Ford RideLondon-Essex 100 and 60 mass participation rides into the county and Local Authorities in Essex will also host two stages of the RideLondon Classique; a three-day UCI Women’s WorldTour stage race for the best female riders in the world, on Friday 24 May and Saturday 25 May.

There are a number of ways you and your school can get involved, and Active Essex are here to support you with everything you may need to make it happen.

Ford RideLondon-Essex is set to bring a lot of excitement to the county and we have lots of resources such as Bikeability opportunities and a Walk and Talk toolkit, to support children’s mental wellbeing. We have design your own banner and cycle jersey templates, as well as information on initiatives such as the Daily Mile, Wheelie Wednesday and competitions.

School Cycling Champions

This year, we’re excited to have a number of school staff who will be taking part in Ford RideLondon-Essex, as ‘School Cycling Champions’. They will be using this challenge to help inspire and engage children and young people in cycling at their school, in the lead up to the event. We will be following their training journey and supporting them in helping to engage their pupils through cycling themed activities and by being an advocate for promoting the benefits of physical activity.

To get as many schools involved in the Ford RideLondon-Essex celebrations as possible, we’re offering a free pack to engage both pupils and staff. If your school would like to receive an activation pack, please register your interest by completing the form below by Wednesday 8th May 2024.

Please note that this year, we are unable to accommodate every school in the county.

This pack will include:

Large canvas banners and waterproof outdoor pens for your school to design their own banner to be hung outside your school gates
Design your own bunting
RideLondon flags for you to show your support during race days.
