We are pleased to announce our continued partnership with CIMSPA (The Chartered Institute for Management of Sport and Physical Activity), and introduce Lisa Wright, as the new local Skills Hub Manager for Essex, Suffolk and Norfolk.
Over the past couple of years, our collaboration with CIMSPA has seen us support the sector in Essex, Southend and Thurrock, alongside the publication of the People, Culture Skills Framework.
Lisa will be working closely with Active Essex to enhance the framework and the Sport and Physical Activity Skills Accountability Board in Essex. The Board aims to unite employers, education providers and employability-focused organisations to effectively align the supply and demand of skills within the sector, through local action plans.
The primary goals of the Board include:
- Ensure education and training matches employer needs. Local colleges, universities and training providers will offer education and training programmes that align with the requirements of employers.
- Build a skilled and inclusive workforce. Working with employers to create a workforce that meets the diverse needs of local communities and promotes business success.
- Create careers pathways. Offer clear and accessible career development opportunities for individuals aspiring to enter or advance within the sector.
With Lisa now in post, the Essex Skills Accountability Board will contribute to national initiatives alongside Sport England, and leverage data and insight through CIMSPA’s newly developed Skills Diagnostics. These insights will be crucial for shaping local skills plans, which the Board will oversee. Lisa will be engaging with sector employers to understand their skills gaps and needs to build a strong overarching picture.
We are encouraging you to get involved with the Essex Skills Accountability Board. If you would like to learn more about the opportunities available, meet with Lisa either in person, or virtually to complete a skills diagnostic, or learn more about our collective efforts, please reach out to Lisa at lisa.wright@cimspa.co.uk
Your participation is essential to ensure we reflect the needs of local employers and organisations and enhance our work with both education, and adult skills funding. To help you prepare to complete the Skills Diagnostics, please gather information in advance, regarding staffing, skills and training requirements in your organisation.
Together, we can drive the sport and physical activity sector in Essex, forward, and ensure it continues to deliver health, economic and social benefits to our communities.
