West Thurrock Academy have been awarded this month’s Move Maker award for their incredible achievements in the Path to Paris programme. From the launch of Essex’s Path to Paris programme back in February, the school have showcased the Olympic & Paralympic values of excellence, determination, and inspiration by trying something new and getting active. The resilience shown by the children, teachers and parents has seen West Thurrock Academy recording one the highest levels of participation across all schools in Essex.
“Every year group on the school have really indulged into the Path to Paris programme and managed to complete the virtual journey to Paris. So much so, some of our year groups have even nearly completed 2 whole trips! The children have loved this programme and are eager to put their stickers up on the classroom poster each time they reach a new destination”.

“It is great to see schools like West Thurrock Academy get into the Paris Olympic & Paralympic spirit and record such high participation levels for the Path to Paris programme. The Olympic & Paralympics are huge platforms to inspire others to undergo physical activity and West Thurrock Academy have done just that through their determination and drive to want to try something new and progress on their virtual journey. West Thurrock Academy should be very proud of their achievement and the inspiration they are providing others to get active.
