Billy Mansell is 25 and is living with Fibromyalgia.
Billy used to be involved in lots of activities and sports, but due to the major change in his health he had to give a lot of it up. He said: “I hit a point where I was severely deteriorating. But I had a defining moment after speaking to a consultant, which led me to begin low impact activities. I use my son as my motivation as I want to lead a healthier and better quality life for me and my family.”
As well as volunteering as an Active Essex All Together Ambassador, Billy is a Coach Core Apprentice. He participates in activities such as cycling, yoga, inclusive cricket and mindfulness walking. Billy is an active member of the inclusive community and shows his determination by completing various mass events such as The Superhero Series.
Billy said: “Participating in these activities have benefitted me in many ways, from self confidence to rebuilding my strength and mobility. It has given me a better quality of life, giving my family more opportunities to take part in physical activity together. I have taken on many different roles which has allowed me to make new friends and grow my confidence considerably.”
