Joanne is B12 deficient, has Hypothyroidism and has Rheumatoid Arthritis. Joanne was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis just over a year ago and has been a huge learning curve that she is still living and battling through.
Joanne said: “Most of you know me as a bouncing ball of energy that comes bursting into class each week, but behind the scenes it can sometimes be a very different story. At times the pain is insanely intense and the fatigue is extreme. I often ask myself ‘why me?’ But I know we all fight battles that others know nothing about. I have to learn from my body and understand my conditions.
As well as participating in classes, she delivers Strong by Zumba, Buggy Fit classes and Ladies Fit Club. She commented: “Last February I was struggling to move around day to day. I was scared about what each day would bring and I often masked the secret of the pain and flare ups. But today I am currently pain free, fit, feeling healthy and re-chasing my dreams whilst growing in confidence. I am determined to not let this disease control my life.”
Louise Voyce, Relationship Manager for Sport for Development at Active Essex said: “Jo has worked with and supported 100’s of women across South Essex to regain their fitness and confidence and as well as classes, offers one on one support and motivation.”
