The 2020 Olympic Games may have come to an end, but we at Active Essex are still reeling from the buzz and excitement. Not only have the games lifted the entire nation’s spirits after what has been a tough 18 months, but our hearts are swelling with pride at the success of some of Essex’s greatest sportspeople, bringing home the medals and showing us all how we can achieve if we put in the dedication and put our minds to it.
We would like to congratulate all of our Essex athletes on their achievements in Tokyo. A huge congratulations to Max Whitlock, Triple Olympic and World Champion Gymnast, on winning a gold medal for his inspirational performance in the Men’s Pommel Horse. To Beth Shriever, for smashing down the barriers and winning gold in the Women’s BMX racing. To Ben Maher and his beautiful horse, Explosion W, for winning gold in the Equestrian Individual Jumping competition.
A massive congratulations to Alice Kinsella on her stunning performance, winning bronze in the Women’s Team Gymnastics competition. To Matthew Coward-Holley for shooting straight to bronze in the Men’s Trap Shooting. To Jessica Judd for giving everything on the track. And to James Gall, for reaching the quarter finals with Team GB in the gruelling Men’s Field Hockey tournament. You have done us all proud and we support you all the way.
