I am Max Beeson, the Volunteer Coordinator for Essex Pedal Power in Clacton & Jaywick. I began my journey volunteering with Essex Pedal Power at its inception in 2021 and took on the role of Volunteer Coordinator, a year later, in March 2022. My passion for this position stems from my own transformative experience with the project. Volunteering with Essex Pedal Power revitalized my life after the dormancy of the COVID lockdowns, allowing me to acquire new skills, forge meaningful connections, and re-enter the workforce.
From being unemployed prior to the lockdowns in 2020, I now hold positions not only with Essex Pedal Power but also as a Bikeability instructor for Essex County Council and with Wheels for All. My aim is to facilitate similar life-changing opportunities for other volunteers, helping them embark on their own empowering journeys. I am thrilled to witness tangible changes within the community, evident in the growing number of individuals riding our distinctive orange bikes and the progress of the local cycle route between Clacton and Jaywick.
Looking ahead, I am committed to fostering further positive change within our community.
