Get active outdoors this winter
A simple way to keep moving is by keeping up your step count; perhaps by taking a scenic winter walk, whether it’s a quick lap around your neighbourhood to stretch your legs or a longer weekend walk through your local woodland. Going for a walk every day not only helps to create a healthy routine, but also gives you time to focus on your mental wellbeing. With the added benefits of getting some fresh air, a brisk walk can leave you feeling revitalised. Why not arrange a walk with your friends or family to actively catch up with each other?
In fact, if you take 3000+ steps every day between January 10th – February 21st (or even just for one week within this period) you could win a prize! It’s all part of the NEW Safer Greener Healthier X Go Jauntly step challenge. Find our more here.
Home activities at your fingertips
We understand that the winter months can make you want to huddle up indoors in the warm. So, we have prepared a whole range of videos on our YouTube channel that can keep everyone entertained and motivated, no matter your age or ability. The channel has over 200 videos for you to try, ranging from gentle movements to high intensity. In addition to the YouTube channel, we have lots of other ideas for you to integrate into your everyday life to increase activity levels. There are so many ways to be active at home; maybe it’s giving your house a tidy up to make room for some of your gifts over Christmas, or perhaps wrap up and head out into the garden to prepare for spring.
Everyone can get involved
Being active looks different for everyone, it doesn’t mean spending hours at the gym. It can be integrated into your everyday life, such as a walk with the dog around your local park, a cycle with friends or family, or even a sing and dance in the kitchen.
We understand that life can get busy so it is about fitting in physical activity wherever we can. It’s all about making small lifestyle changes like taking the stairs instead of the lift, parking further away or having a lunchtime desk stretch whilst at work.
