- The prize draw is organised by Essex County Council (ECC), County Hall, Market Road, Chelmsford, Essex CM1 1QH.
- The prize draw is open to all UK residents aged 18 years or over, except employees of ECC and their families, agents or any third party directly associated with administration of the prize draw.
- The prize draw is free to enter, and no purchase is necessary. To be in with a chance of winning and to register your details for further updates, scan the QR code using your smartphone camera or go to activeessex.org-find-your-active-competition .
- To enter the prize draw, you: (a) must visit our website at activeessex.org/find-your-active-competition ; (b) must complete the survey; (c) must tick the box to confirm you wish to enter the prize draw; (d) must enter your contact information and (e) can opt out of ECC using your details for direct marketing purposes. The survey is free to complete.
- For any questions about how to enter or in connection with the prize draw, email ECC at [email protected] with the name of the prize draw in the subject line.
- Only one entry per person is permitted. Entries on behalf of another person will not be accepted and joint submissions are not allowed. In the event that ECC discovers or has reasonable grounds to believe that the same person has made multiple entries, such person and any entries made by them shall be disqualified and, if such participant has already been selected as a prize-winner, an alternative prize-winner will be selected in accordance with the process described in these terms and conditions.
- The opening date for entries is 9am on 6 August 2021. The closing date of the prize draw is midnight on 31 August 2021 . Entries received after this time will not be valid or accepted.
- ECC accepts no responsibility for entries not successfully completed, submitted or received regardless of the cause including for example due to equipment failure, a technical fault, technical malfunction, computer hardware, software, satellite, network or server failure of any kind. Postal or any other method of entries other than as specified in paragraph 4 of these terms and conditions will not be valid or accepted.
- Prize winners will be chosen by random draw performed by a computer process on 2 September 2021.
- Each winner may only win one prize:
- the first drawn winner will receive a full day “Extraordinary Animal Experience” at Colchester Zoo for a group of six, plus six annual passes – all together worth £1,000;
- the second drawn winner will receive £500 in vouchers to spend at any Essex Outdoors centre on an activity for you, your friends and family or towards the cost of a residential trip for your nominated school.
- the third drawn winner will receive an Essex Country Parks Explorer Pass for one year worth £75 for use at all Essex County Council country parks.
- The winners will be notified by email or telephone (using details provided at entry) before 9 September 2021 and must provide a postal address to claim their prize. No prize may be claimed by a third party on a winner’s behalf.
- If a winner does not respond to ECC within fourteen days of being notified by ECC, then the relevant winner’s prize will be forfeited and ECC will be entitled to select another winner in accordance with the process described above. ECC shall have no responsibility if the prize is not claimed within the specified time limit or the winner is not able to take up the prize.
- The prizes will be sent to the winners by email (with details on how to redeem their prizes) within fourteen days of each winner responding to ECC in accordance with the condition above.
- The prize for the winners is non-exchangeable, non-transferable and no cash alternative is offered. ECC reserves the right to replace the prize with an alternative prize of equal or higher value if circumstances beyond ECC’s control makes it necessary to do so.
- ECC’s use of any particular third-party brands from whom prizes have been sourced by ECC does not imply any affiliation with or endorsement of such brands.
- The decision of ECC regarding any aspect of the prize draw is final and binding and no discussions or correspondence will be entered into about it.
- The surname and county of the prize winners can be obtained by anyone who emails [email protected] within one month after the Draw Date stated above. If you object to any or all of your surname or county being published or made available, please contact ECC at [email protected]. In such circumstances, ECC must still provide the information and winning entry to the Advertising Standards Authority on request.
- Participants are deemed to have accepted and agreed to be bound by these terms and conditions upon entry. ECC reserves the right to refuse entry or refuse to award the prize to anyone in breach of these terms and conditions. In entering, participants confirm that they are eligible to do so and eligible to claim any prize they may win. ECC may require proof that the participant is eligible to enter the prize draw.
- ECC may disqualify any entrant whose entry does not comply with these terms and conditions (in ECC’s sole opinion) or who, in ECC’s sole determination, has acted in a manner that is fraudulent, dishonest or unjust to other entrants including, without limitation, tampering with the operation of the prize draw, manipulating or rigging votes, hacking, deceiving, cheating or by harassing or threatening other entrants or a representative of ECC.
- Prize draw entries that are not submitted in accordance with these terms and conditions; and the required competition entry procedure will be automatically disqualified.
- ECC will not accept competition entries that have been: (a) automatically generated by computer; (b) completed by third parties or in bulk; (c) altered, reconstructed, forged or tampered with; or (e) incomplete.
- ECC reserves the right to hold void, cancel, suspend or amend the promotion without notice where it becomes necessary to do so.
- Insofar as is permitted by law, ECC, its agents or distributors will not in any circumstances be responsible or liable to compensate the winners or accept any liability for any loss, damage, personal injury or death occurring as a result of participating in the prize draw or taking up a prize except where it is caused by the negligence of ECC, its agents or distributors or that of their employees. Your statutory rights are not affected.
- ECC will use any data submitted by entrants only for the purposes of running the prize draw, unless otherwise stated in the entry details. By entering this prize draw, all entrants consent to the use of their personal data by ECC for the purposes of the administration of this prize draw and any other purposes to which the entrant has consented. See also the conditions above with regard to the announcement of winners and the supply of information on request regarding the winners. Personal data supplied during the course of this promotion will only be processed as set out in ECC’s privacy policy essex.gov.uk/privacy-community
- Winners agree to participate in any reasonable publicity related to the prize draw which may include the publication of their name and photograph in any media with no compensation.
- ECC reserves the right to update these terms and conditions from time to time and any updated version will be effective as soon as it is published on the website.
- The prize draw will be governed by English law and entrants to the prize draw submit to the jurisdiction of the English courts.
