The Active Essex Foundation is an independent charity set up to use the power of sport and physical activity to engage and support the most marginalised groups across the county. Founded in 2016, the charity works with locally trusted organisations to support projects that engage under-represented and vulnerable young people most at risk in their communities.
By working with and inspiring communities to become more active, the Foundation are able to raise aspirations, confidence and improve physical and mental wellbeing of youngsters in Greater Essex, who are showing anti-social behaviour and involved in crime. Through physical activity and sport, the charity alongside delivery partners, are able to break down barriers and address inequalities to enable individuals to reach their full potential. Their aim is to primarily enable young people to become more active and have the opportunity to lead a healthier, happier and more positive life.
