Lee Bailey will bring extensive experience among the education, health and care sectors, helping support Active Essex with their work navigating complex organisational systems. He currently is Programme Lead for Southend, Essex and Thurrock Mental Health Strategy working with three Integrated Care Boards, three Local Authorities and two Mental Health Trusts to deliver and transform services that support mental health for people in our communities. Pivotal in leading and developing local partnership networks among services and communities, Lee understands the impact of physical activity can have in the prevention and recovery of mental ill health whether that is children and young people right through to older adults.
On his appointment to the Board, he said: “I hope that through my time with Active Essex, we will be able to build upon the offer of physical activity opportunities for young people. For me, sport and physical activity not only supports better physical and mental health, but the friendships that can form, and enjoyment had, can last a lifetime.”
