Active Tendring is the Sport and Physical Activity Network for the Tendring District.
The network acts as an overseeing body co-ordinating work aimed at increasing physical activity and sport participation across Tendring.
The network brings together a core group of partners who will work together in order to support both local and county-wide aims encompassed in both the Tendring Health and Wellbeing Strategy (2018 – 2020), and the Active Essex Strategy, ‘Changing One Million Lives to Get Essex Active.’
The network will identify the key issues in the district and actively work to increase physical active levels (150 minutes per week) and in turn reduce inactivity (below 30 minutes per week) with a focus on those who likely to face additional barriers to getting active.
Active Tendring funded 11 projects April 2018 – April 2019, some of these projects were: health walks, mental wellbeing football, golf social isolation project, tai chi, community fitness classes, plus more.
Active Tendring held a successful stakeholder networking event in June 2019 to engage with organisations/ clubs and groups who have an interest in creating or supporting opportunities for inactive people in Tendring to get active. The event offered the opportunity for organisations to learn more about others in the area, to learn more about Active Tendring and its aims and provided the opportunity for project ideas to be developed.
The network will keep interested clubs and organisations informed about opportunities and updates from the network via email and through the Active Tendring facebook page .
